The longest-running original Dance Moms cast member, Nia Sioux last week announced that she will be leaving the show when Season 7 wraps up. Hitching her star to a new wagon, she’s setting her sights on bigger and better ventures:
“It’s crazy to see how far it’s come and how much I’ve been through,” the dancer told Teen Vogue. “I was just like, I’m 16 now, I’m growing up, the show has been a great platform, but it’s time to move on. During the show, I couldn’t take all the opportunities that I wanted to, and now since I’m off the show I’m getting to do what I want to do.”
Right now, that means music and acting. She’s already bagged the starring role in a film, Summer Dance, about a young dancer who falls in love and finds herself having to balance her relationship and pursuing her dreams. The film is slated for release in 2018.
Earlier this year, she also proved she’s got the pipes to match her killer dance moves, dropping a banger single, You Don’t Really Wanna, which quickly surged to the #1 spot on the iTunes video chart.
But don’t worry OG stans, Nia hasn’t hung up her dancing shoes for good. “I will always be attached to dance,” she said. “Dancing has been a part of my life forever, so no matter what I’m doing, dance is still going to be there.”
