Who is Anjali Rao?

We caught up with new Real Housewife of Melbourne, Anjali Rao, at the season 5 announcement event. The former CNN Talk Asia host divulged to us that she has struggled to keep her Housewife status under her hat and reassured us that this season will be about empowerment.

Anjali is not your typical Real Housewife. She was born in Hong Kong and then went to a full on Hogwarts-level English boarding school from age 11. “I went to the oldest school in the world: Kings School, Canterbury,” she said. “I’ve always lived a very international lifestyle.”

She has only been in Melbourne for the last seven years and misses the fast-paced life of Hong Kong. “Lots of other people thinks it’s a completely bonkers crazy mental life, but that’s the only things that I understand. Everything else is too slow.”

Anjali didn’t know any of the Housewives before being cast on the show. She had met some of the fabulous ladies briefly through her broadcasting career, but having lived such an international life, Anjali never operated within the necessary Melbourne social circles.

She said: “Although I have had a privileged background, going to the most expensive schools in the world, that was a long time ago. I am not society, I have many society friends, but I, myself, am not.”

That was until now. The highest of high society, The Real Housewives of Melbourne, open their arms and welcome Anjali Rao into their ranks.
